Prof. Trevor Burnard \nW. Bro. Prof. Trevor Burnard P.H.D\nWilberforce Professor of Slavery and Emancipation at the University of Hull\n \nBro. William Wilberforce. Slavery and the efforts to abolish Slavery in England.\nTrevor Burnard is Wilberforce Professor of Slavery and Emancipation at the University of Hull and Director of the Wilberforce Institute. He is the author of 15 books\, including 8 monographs and 3 edited books; 46 articles and 45 book chapters; and is the editor-in-chief of the Oxford Online Bibliography in Atlantic History. Among his principal publications are Jamaica in the Age of Revolution (2020); The Plantation Machine: Atlantic Capitalism in French Saint Domingue and British Jamaica (2016); Planters\, Merchants\, and Slaves: Plantation Societies in British America\, 1650-1820 (2015); Mastery\, Tyranny\, and Desire: Thomas Thistlewood and His Slaves in the Anglo-Jamaican World (2004); and Creole Gentlemen: Wealthy Marylanders\, 1691-1776 (2002). He has taught at universities in Britain\, Australia\, New Zealand and Jamaica and has held fellowships at research institutes in Germany\, Britain\, France\, Australia and the United States.
